Stålrör AB – Six decades of expertise, quality, development and deeply impactful relationships

Since its founding in 1966, Stålrör AB has developed from a local company in Halmstad to an established player in the steel pipe industry as a wholesaler of steel pipes, pipe components and advanced pipe processing in the Scandinavian and Northern European markets. For those 60 years, the company has built its business on technical expertise, long-term customer relationships and a strong desire to develop in line with the industry's changing needs.

The foundation is laid in Halmstad

When Stålrör AB was founded in 1966, the goal was clear – to offer high-quality steel pipe solutions with high delivery reliability and technical expertise. The business was established in Halmstad, a strategic location close to both Swedish industry and important transport routes.

Already in the first years, the company was characterized by expansion. In 1970, the first warehouse was built, which created the conditions for a wider range and increased capacity. In the same year, the Danish operations were also established, marking the beginning of a long-term Scandinavian presence.

Growth through skills and investment

In the following decades, the company continued to invest in both people, facilities and business development. The expansion took place in line with customers' increasing demands for availability, precision and technologically advanced solutions.

An important step was taken in 1997 with the formation of Mannesmann Stålrör AB in cooperation with Thyssen Mannesmann Handel GmbH. Three years later, in 2000, Stålrör AB acquired all the shares in the company and thus consolidated the business further.

In 2001, new office premises were inaugurated directly adjacent to the warehouse and production, which improved cooperation between different parts of the business and created an overall more efficient organization.

From family business to international group

Stålrör's development has been characterized by entrepreneurship and commitment. Through Stalror Group, the company has grown into an international organization with operations and customers across large parts of Europe. The late founder Herbert Stadler's vision of long-term thinking, quality and customer focus has continued to characterize the business through generations and still constitutes an important part of the company's identity today.

Continued investments for the future

During the 2000s, significant investments have been made to meet the increasing demands of the market. New warehouses have been built to strengthen logistics and delivery capacity, including through expansions in 2008 and 2016.

Another important step was taken in 2015 when Stålrör AB acquired Voestalpine Rotec AB. The acquisition broadened the offering in precision pipes, stainless steel pipes, hydraulic products and pipe processing, while strengthening the company's position in several industry segments.

Today, Stålrör AB stands on a stable foundation built on almost 60 years of experience. The company combines tradition and know-how with modern processes, technical excellence and a clear ambition to continue to develop together with its customers.
